Liverpool hero John Barnes on how Arne Slot can learn from Chelsea mistakes
One of the all-time Liverpool greats John Barnes has revealed that he thinks Liverpool don't need to sign any new players this summer.
As all clubs get ready for the new campaign entering August they will only have one more month to sign more players.
Liverpool are the only side in the top five European leagues that are yet to have any incomings.
This has annoyed some fans who want to see new players come through the door but Barnes wants the opposite.
BARNES WOULDN’T CHOOSE ANY NEW PLAYERS
The former Liverpool winger was asked by The Daily Mail if Arne Slot needs some new players at his disposal.
He said: “I wouldn't choose any. Why do we think the solution to a problem is to buy players? We have lots of players. We signed five players last year.
“I'm not a big fan of football in the last 15 years where you think: "Let's just keep signing players." Look at Chelsea, how many players they signed and where they finished.
"So that's not the solution. We have enough players to be competitive.”
Liverpool were in the Premier League title race until the last few weeks of the season with the current crop of players they have now.
The only difference is that Adrian, Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara left at the end of their contracts whilst Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho are back from their loan deals.
There has been some movement in recent days though as Liverpool have received bids for Van den Berg and Wataru Endo. It was also revealed how they nearly signed Anthony Gordon with Joe Gomez going the other way to Newcastle.
As it stands though the only imminent signing is Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea after a long Premier League process.
