Liverpool set to cash in £8m Slot JACKPOT as Klopp departs

Liverpool are set to save nearly £8m per year with a massive change coming after this season. The Reds will be a little more flexible.

Liverpool will reportedly save around £8m each year by swapping Jurgen Klopp for Arne Slot. It's a change now expected to happen, with the German certainly stepping away at the end of the season.

And Slot is the name in line to replace him. That's reported absolutely everywhere, of course, with Liverpool bidding for him already this week.

That bid, however, was a good few million short of Feyenoord's demands.

But Liverpool will press on for a deal with the Dutch champions. Once that's done, they can formally offer a contract to Slot. Though, it appears they already know what he'll ask for.

De Telegraaf reports that Slot would earn €8m per year at Anfield, should a deal go through. That comes to around £6.85m - and is a long, long way short of Klopp's salary.

The Dutch outlet has his annual salary at €17m, or £14.5m. It's climbed so high - one of the highest for a manager in the world - because Liverpool offer salary bumps for success. Klopp's certainly had a lot of that.

Slot would have the same, knowing that €8m is a starting salary that could grow significantly if he can deliver on the pitch. For now, though, the Reds will start saving nearly £8m per year with the manager swap.

Arne Slot to Liverpool

This one seems to be very close, with even talk of salaries being sorted. Liverpool should have their new manager before long and then the real planning can begin.

The last few weeks have left the impression that the squad needs a lot of work. That extra £8m per year will go a little way to helping that along - though not all that much.

Instead, the real difference with hiring Slot is that Liverpool will know the type of player they need for each position. Some will come in, some will go - it's going to be a busy summer.
