Liverpool are set to meet Villarreal in the Champions League semi-finals. The first leg will take place at Anfield on Wednesday night.
With that being the case, Villarreal midfielder Francis Coquelin has given his thoughts on the Reds ahead of the clash.
As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, the Frenchman told the Daily Mail the following: “Liverpool are stronger than Bayern (the team Villarreal knocked out in the quarter-finals). They are probably the team that press the best in Europe. It is difficult to know where their weaknesses are. They have two players who fight for the Ballon d'Or every year in (Mohamed) Salah and (Sadio) Mane.
“They are strong all over the pitch with full-backs who can play like strikers. And now they have signed Luis Diaz too and he settles in the team like he has been there for five years. But we are not going there just to look around Anfield.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Coquelin is right. Liverpool are a top side. There is a reason why the Reds have won five major trophies since 2019.
The reality is, Liverpool could win the quadruple this season. The Reds have already secured the League Cup.
A lot would have to go right for Jurgen Klopp's side to win four major trophies this campaign. However, as we have pointed out, the Reds are a top side. Anything can happen in the game of football.
It would be some achievement if Liverpool could pull off securing the quadruple. We wish Klopp's team all the best for the remainder of the season.
