Liverpool would like to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma this summer, according to Mirror Football, as cited by Anfield Edition's Twitter account.

The report states that the Reds will battle Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur for the 25-year-old's signature.

The report further adds that it is highly likely that Bissouma will depart Brighton come the summer.

Bissouma's contract expires in the summer of 2023. The Mali international possesses a current market value of €25 million.

Bissouma is a fine talent. The midfielder has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.09 in the Premier League this season.

Bissouma is also a reasonably experienced player. The 25-year-old has made 113 appearances for Brighton's first-team.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has even labelled Bissouma as a "top-class player".

"I've said for a long time that Bissouma is a top-class player,' he said on talkSPORT, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

Parlour added: "I think he's got everything. He's efficient on the ball, he can put his foot in as well, he can pass.

"He probably could score a few more goals I should imagine, but he's not in the position to score goals. He's the one that is going to keep everything ticking."

Therefore, we would not be against Liverpool making a move for Bissouma. Liverpool do have an ageing midfield.

The likes of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Thiago Alcantara are all aged over 30. The aforementioned footballers can't represent the club forever.

With that being the case, it would be wise for the club to have an eye to the future. Signing a player of Bissouma's profile would be doing exactly that.

The summer transfer window is still a while away. But, we do look forward to seeing if Liverpool are genuinely interested in signing Bissouma.
