Liverpool are interested in Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, according to a report from Inter-News, as cited on Twitter.

The report states that the Reds are monitoring the 24-year-old ahead of a potential summer move.

Martinez is having a good season for Inter Milan. The Argentina international has scored 12 goals and registered two assists in 34 appearances.

Martinez also averages a WhoScored player rating of 6.89 across the 2021-22 club campaign.

The forward, who's contract does not expire until June 2026, possesses a current market value of €80 million.

As the aforementioned figures highlight, Martinez is a talented forward. But, we can further prove that the 24-year-old is a top player.

Lionel Messi, arguably the greatest footballer to every play the game, has said plenty of good things about Martinez in the past.

“He’s spectacular," said the 34-year-old last year, as quoted by talkSPORT.

“He has impressive qualities. You could tell he was going to be a great player and he is showing that.

“He’s very strong, really good one on one, scores a lot of goals and in the area he fights with anyone, holds it up, he can turn, scrap to win it all on his own.

“He has a lot of quality. He’s very complete.”

Therefore, we would not be against Liverpool making a move for Martinez in the near future. Also, the Argentina international is reasonably young.

With that being the case, it would be fair to assume that he is far from the finished article and that he could represent the club for close to a decade.

But, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has five first-team attacking options at his disposal. The only way we can see Liverpool signing another forward is if someone departs the club.

Also, we are unsure if the Reds would be prepared to spend around €80 million on Martinez. The aforementioned figure is a lot of money.
