Liverpool academy stars Nyoni and Nallo win SECOND England trophy of 2024

The Liverpool academy came in for strong praise during the 2023-24 season, as first-team injuries mounted and a number of top prospects filled in for Jurgen Klopp.

Players like Bobby Clark, Jayden Danns, James McConnell, Lewis Koumas and more were spirited to the senior ranks to help out, and successfully gained their first major honours by clinching the Carabao Cup in February

Big things are expected from the current crop of under-18s and under-21s, and two more of that party have begun their international careers in style.

Trey Nyoni and Amara Nallo have just claimed their second trophy in three months for England’s under-18s.

Having won the Pinatar Super Cup in March - while Danns was still in the ranks - the duo have now helped the Three Lions to the inaugural Tri Nations Trophy at St George’s Park.

Nyoni and Nallo each played their part in victories against Northern Ireland and Morocco last week.

Nallo, 17, played 35 minutes against Northern Ireland and was a starter in the weekend win against Morocco, playing almost 70 minutes.

Nyoni, meanwhile, played 90 minutes against Northern Ireland and 20 against Morocco.

The game against Northern Ireland finished 4-2 in favour of England while the home side came from 1-0 down to down Morocco on Sunday.

Nyoni and Nallo set for stardom

An elegant, rangy No.8, Nyoni has been fast tracked through Liverpool’s age groups since his signing from Leicester City last summer.

He made his first-team debut back in February during the FA Cup tie against Southampton aged only 16 and 243 days.

Nyoni scored on his under-16 debut for England against Italy in August 2022 in a 3-2 win, going on to earn seven caps at that level and winning the 2023 Montaigu Cup - a prestigious youth tournament that has previously been graced by Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Karim Benzema, Andrea Pirlo, Carlos Tevez and Pavel Nedved.

Nyoni was then called into the under-17 reckoning, making his debut last October in a 2-2 draw against Norway, before being called up to the under-18s.

Nallo, a centre back, signed from West Ham in August and has already stepped up to the Reds' under-21 ranks. He was drafted into the senior ranks for an FA Cup match against Southampton back in February.

Nallo was also on the bench for a Premier League game against Manchester City.
