Liverpool 5-1 West Ham: Player ratings

© IMAGO

Here are our player ratings for Liverpool vs West Ham in the 2023/24 Carabao Cup. The Reds were phenomenal in a 5-1 win.

Caoimhin Kelleher - 7

Kelleher had nothing to really do here and didn't stand much of a chance on the goal.

Joe Gomez - 7

He'll be gutted to not have a goal. Gomez played the right-back/hybrid midfield role here as well as left-back and performed both roles well. Got forward brilliantly and looks more and more like a full-back.

Jarell Quansah - 6

Maybe could have done better for the West Ham goal? Quansah was a little slow to react to Jarrad Bowen but other than that put in another decent display.

Virgil van Dijk - 8

As dominant as ever. Can't ask for more, classic Virgil van Dijk.

Kostas Tsimikas - 7

Good solid display from Tsimikas. Not as productive as he can be but he's becoming more and more consistent.

Wataru Endo - 8

A really solid performance and exactly what Liverpool want from Endo. Completed 96 per cent of his passes (match-high) and won his tackles.

Curtis Jones - 9

Every now and then, Jones puts in a performance where he reminds everyone that he's actually an incredible talent who can tear teams apart. Here was one of those. Two goals, both of which he started from deep - the second of which he scored completely on his own. Sensational.

Harvey Elliott - 7

A decent display but Elliott will be disappointed that he was unable to provide a goal or assist here on a day when other midfielders very much did. At the same time, there's nothing to complain about here.

Dominik Szoboszlai - 8

What a goal. Szoboszlai back to his best with that one in a great performance that shows just what a threat he can be.

Cody Gakpo - 8

A really good goal on an otherwise quiet day for Gakpo. His 24 touches were the fewest of any starting player. Still managed to show his quality in one great moment.

Darwin Nunez - 8

Nunez didn't score and had very little created for him in this one. Yet he also won two more tackles than any other player (5) and picked up the assist for Jones's first. Proved that even when not threatening the goal, he plays a massive role in making Liverpool tick.

Subs

Mohamed Salah - 8

Brilliant goal from Salah who saw what was happening 5 seconds before anyone else on the pitch.

Ibrahima Konaté - 7

What a wonderful run for Cody Gakpo's goal.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 8

Came on at Liverpool 2-0 West Ham, left at 5-1. The Reds started to bag goals once he came on in midfield and Alexander-Arnold assisted both Jones's second and Salah's goal. Did a bit more for the latter, admittedly.
