Kieran Trippier is back in the Premier League after joining Newcastle United from Atletico Madrid, and he has offered his thoughts on recent meetings with Liverpool that he had in the Champions League.
The Reds and Atleti have met quite a lot in recent seasons with them knocking us out of the competition just before the covid pandemic took hold in the 19/20 season.
Indeed, we've since met in the group stage and at times things have been a little bit frosty between Jurgen Klopp and Diego Simeone, with them having different playing styles to say the least.
Trippier, though, says any criticism from Klopp is unfair:

It's a fair point that teams are going to set up to frustrate at Anfield and, ultimately, Simeone and Atleti are one of the best in the world at it.
They certainly stepped over the mark at times against Liverpool, though, and you can see why Klopp was rattled.
Even so, the Reds are into the knockouts this season and that is what matters.
