Jurgen Klopp has provided an injury update ahead of the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Villarreal.

Speaking in his pre-Villarreal press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp confirmed that Roberto Firmino will travel with the squad but he won't be involved.

"Bobby is now running. It wasn't serious but it was very painful. He will travel with us but will not be involved tomorrow.

"We had a few issues with stomach bugs but they are all back now. That is it. No other concerns."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool have been very fortunate with injuries this season. It seems like Klopp and his staff have focused on preventing them after last season's centre-back crisis.

One player who has massively benefitted from being fit is Thiago Alcantara. The Spaniard has been key to Liverpool's success this season and he runs the midfield whenever he plays.

Speaking about Thiago's form this campaign, Klopp said, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, that he'd get into any team in world football.

"In the shape he is in now, he'd play in each team in the world and for Spain as well," said Klopp.

"But when he got here he was injured and Spain had a lot of options. The shape he is in now he'd get in each national team. Like any player, he needs to be in his best shape."

It's hard to argue with Klopp on this one. Thiago has been instrumental and the £20m that we signed him for is starting to look like a real bargain.

If we do win the quadruple this season then we'll look back on Thiago being fit as one of the key reasons why we were able to win it.

Hopefully, he can stay fully fit for the final month of the season.
