Following Joe Gomez’s omission from the recent England squad due to his lack of game time, Jurgen Klopp has criticised the decision.
The Liverpool boss aimed a sly dig at Gareth Southgate, comparing John Stones, who, despite losing his place in the Manchester City side, has kept his England place.
There is no doubt that Gomez is good enough for both Liverpool and England. And, chances are, when he returns to the Liverpool side on a more permanent basis, he’ll receive that all-important England call-up.
With the plethora of options for Gareth Southgate to choose from at the back, it comes as no shock to see certain players miss out when it comes to each international break. It takes time to pick your strongest team as a manager, but, with a fully fit squad at his disposal, Southgate simply has to pick Gomez.

"Sometimes Gareth reacts if you are not playing for your club you can't play for the national team. Obviously there is a special rule for Mr Stones." 🔴 pic.twitter.com/xPp61zmcIw
