Jaden Philogene is the name on the lips of all football fans on Wednesday morning.

The 22-year-old winger's incredible Rabona for Hull City against Rotherham in the Championship on Tuesday should be being spoken about as a potential Puskas Award winner.

Instead, the powers that be have decreed that the sensational strike was awarded as an own goal to Cameron Humphreys, whose shoulder the ball deflected off after it left Philogene’s boot.

Notwithstanding, the 22-year-old produced the sensational moment of magic to get his side level on the night before team-mate Noah Ohio struck the winner for the Tigers.

It was the latest in a long line of awe-inspiring contributions from Philogene, who has been described as the most naturally gifted player to don the club’s colours.

Hull certainly have a gem on their hands in the England Under-21 international, a silky winger who can go either way and has 12 goal contributions in 17 matches in the second-tier this season.

While many are waking up to the talents of the former Aston Villa starlet, Philogene is a player whose potential and pedigree Liverpool already know plenty about.

Indeed, last summer, Anfield Watch reported last year that Reds bosses had opened talks with the youngster’s representatives over a move to Anfield before he ultimately ended up in Humberside.

Philogene was seen as a player who was well liked by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who at that time was seeking young reinforcements on the wings.

Instead though, it was second-tier Hull who pulled off an incredible deal in getting Philogene from Aston Villa, despite interest from Newcastle as well as the Reds.

A fee of a reported £5m was enough to tempt Villa into selling Philogene, although it has been revealed that the Villans have a £15m buy-back clause in the deal so long as certain triggers are met, while

the youngster is said to have impressed Unai Emery during their short time working together.

With Hull sitting in seventh after 31 games, he is now aiming for promotion to the Premier League alongside Liverpool loanees Tyler Morton and Fabio Carvalho.

Whether Liverpool re-ignite their interest in coming transfer windows under the next manager and sporting director remains to be seen.

However, chances are his Rabona won’t be the last time you hear about Philogene.
