"It's difficult" - Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on signing a midfielder

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made it clear that he is looking to sign a new midfielder before the summer transfer window closes.

The Reds possess an ageing midfield. Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson are in their 30s.

Also, Thiago and Naby Keita have had plenty of injury problems since arriving at Anfield.

Therefore, several Liverpool supporters have taken to social media in recent weeks stating that Klopp needs to sign a midfielder.

Going by the German's latest comments, it sounds like he agrees.

As quoted by journalist Paul Gorst on Twitter, Klopp said the following during his most recent press conference: "Are we after a midfielder? Ish...closer we get to last minute...more like (they don't). I couldn't (give you a name). It's difficult because for sure there a few who are right but there are diff issues, at clubs who don't want to sell, that's how it is.

"There's still time but when it's over, whether someone signs or not, I am really happy as it's over and we can just focus on the squad we have. Face the situations we have together. Our fans are active on social media so they can stop doing that. We have a good football team."

Anfield Watch Verdict

If Liverpool are serious about challenging for the major honours this season, then they need to bring in a midfielder.

The Reds have looked quite bare in the middle of the park in the early parts of the campaign.

Teams can't possess a weakness if they want to win the Premier League title or Champions League.

So, hopefully Klopp can secure a midfielder before the summer transfer window closes.
