Ibrahima Konate's brother has spoken about the Liverpool defender's career after an impressive run of form for Jurgen Klopp's side.

Konate's brother, Sikou, spoke to Le Parisien, as cited by SportWitness, about his sibling's most recent goals and his career choices before moving to Merseyside.

“It’s crazy. You can’t even explain it," said Konate's brother. "A few weeks ago, the family told him that what he was lacking was goals, and now he puts three in a row in big games! Benfica twice, Manchester City.

“There were three clubs interested by Ibrahima at the time (2014), including Sochaux and Rennes. If Paris Saint-Germain had come to see him, we don’t know what would have happened.

“However, his choice was well thought out, and looking back, it clearly was the right one looking at the career he has. Now, it’s Liverpool, Anfield.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Even though Konate may not have got as many minutes as he was hoping for this season, he has been a massive part of the squad and it's clear to see that he is Virgil van Dijk's long-term partner/successor.

With the 22 games that he has played for the Reds so far, he has impressed a lot of people and it looks like he will be playing the remaining Champions League games with big Virg.

Yes, Ibou is still a bit raw around the edges but he's 22-years-old and he doesn't look out of place in the best defence in the world.

His passing has been outstanding, his recovery speed rivals Virgil and his ariel ability is unverifiable. He has all the attributes to become one of the best centre-backs in the world under Klopp's guidance.

For the price of £36m, we definitely bought the best centre-back from RB Leipzig last summer.
