"It's a massive boost" - Pundit on the return of Roberto Firmino

Former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell believes Roberto Firmino's return to fitness is a huge boost for Liverpool heading into the final phase of the season.

The Brazil international suffered a foot injury back in April. Firmino missed six of Liverpool's matches as a result.

However, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has recently confirmed that the forward is back in training.

Campbell has claimed that Firmino's return to fitness is certainly a positive for Liverpool.

“It’s a massive boost. It is absolutely massive for them. They have the FA Cup final coming up. His experience will count for a lot during this run-in,” he told talkSPORT, as quoted by Transfer Tavern.

“Liverpool are going for the quadruple, even though the league is in City’s hands. I don’t think they’ll mess up. To get one of your mainstays back at this stage of the season is really important for Jurgen Klopp.

“Even though they only have a few games left they will need to rotate. There will be some tired legs in that dressing room. Let’s not forget, Firmino, (Mohamed) Salah and (Sadio) Mane are electric together.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with Campbell's take. Firmino has been a terrific player for Liverpool over the years.

The Brazil international has scored 98 goals and registered 73 assists in 323 appearances for the club's first-team.

When the forward has featured for Liverpool this season, he has averaged a WhoScored player rating of 6.92 (31 matches).

Therefore, Firmino's return to fitness can only be a positive thing for Liverpool. His contract expires in the summer of 2023.

So, Firmino's time at Anfield could be coming to an end. If that is the case, we do hope that he enjoys his remaining time at Anfield.
