Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was very good against Atletico Madrid at Anfield last night.

The 23-year-old registered two assists and a WhoScored player rating of 8.41 against the La Liga side.

With that being the case, pundit Rio Ferdinand was full of praise for Alexander-Arnold last night.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold has shown quality in wide areas, something which has never been in question with him,” Ferdinand told BT Sport, as quoted by The Sport Review. “It was there for all to see.

“Exquisite balls into the box for people to finish off.”

Liverpool ended up winning the aforementioned Champions League group stage fixture 2-0.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

We completely agree with Ferdinand's comments. There is no denying that the Scouser was exceptional against Atletico Madrid.

But, were we shocked with Alexander-Arnold's output against the Spanish side? Absolutely not.

The right-back has proven to be an attacking weapon for Liverpool over the years. Alexander-Arnold has scored 10 goals and registered 50 assists in 190 appearances for the club's first-team.

The aforementioned statistics highlight that the 23-year-old is more than just a defender.

Due to Alexander-Arnold's age, it would be fair to assume that he still has plenty of room left for improvement, which is exciting.
