"It is what it is" - Pep Guardiola on Liverpool being one point behind Manchester City

After beating Arsenal, Liverpool are one point behind Pep Guardiola's Manchester City but that doesn't seem to bother the City manager.

Another week, another Guardiola quote about Liverpool and the Premier League title race.

This time, he has said that City will be at the top of the Premier League for 14 days and that it is in their hands, as cited by Anfield Watch.

"It is what it is. We are going to sleep [the next] 14 days top of the league and after we come back from the international break then nine games of Premier League. I think everyone knows what we have to do," said Pep.

"It’s a marvellous challenge, we’ll be there to face them. Start with Burnley and nine games. We are leading right now in the Premier League. I don't know if we will win but the destiny is in our hands."

Anfield Watch Verdict

I mean he isn't wrong. It's definitely better to be getting chased than be the chaser when it comes to a title race.

However, Liverpool currently have all the momentum and are on a nine-game winning streak. Some would argue that going into the Manchester City vs Liverpool game, that is more important.

Even though the Reds are one point behind City, it's all going to come down to the fixture between the two clubs in April. Whoever wins that will most likely be crowned Premier League Champions.

Jurgen also spoke about the title race in his post-Arsenal press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch.

"We’ve obviously had a good period," said Klopp. "It’s what we need. We’re one point [behind Man City], but it’s still the same. We have to win football matches. We then face City, then all the others."

"Hopefully all the players come back fit from international duty. Then we have an early kick-off against Watford. It’s better to be one point behind than 14 points."
