"It is gutting" - Andy Robertson reflects on the Champions League final

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has reflected on the 2022 Champions League final.

Real Madrid defeated the Reds 1-0 at the Stade de France last Saturday night. Vinicius Jr scored the only goal of the match.

Liverpool certainly created enough chances to win the final, which is why Robertson was devastated post-game.

As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, he told the Daily Mail the following: “It is gutting when you have the chances we have had, it is always that bit harder to take.

"But their 'keeper (Thibaut Courtois) had an absolute worldie of a game and the longer the game went it just looked as though we weren’t going to score.

“And weren’t going to have enough which is obviously devastating.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

It is still hard to believe that Liverpool lost to Real Madrid. The Reds played really well for majority of the match.

It just wasn't meant to be. Liverpool have played in three Champions League finals under Jurgen Klopp, but have only managed to win one.

Football can be a cruel game. However, the Reds have still had a very good season. Liverpool won the League Cup and FA Cup.

They also competed for the Premier League title and Champions League. We are confident that Liverpool will go again.

Whenever the Reds have been challenged during Klopp's tenure, they have responded.

On another note, it was brilliant to see the supporters get around the players at yesterday's parade.

The players have been brilliant for a number of years, so it was the least that they deserved. Klopp's team and the fans deserve a bit of a rest.

The 2021-22 campaign was exhausting simply because of the fact that Liverpool were competing for every single trophy available.
