'Incredibly talented' defender now CLOSE to major Liverpool EXIT this summer
Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg is nearing ever-closer to a permanent move away from Anfield with The Reds' valuation of above £20 million now set to be met.
The Dutchman who has attracted interest during pre-season with Liverpool has seen the club reject offers from Mainz - who he impressed on loan with last season - as well as fellow German side Wolfsburg who were also interested in securing the defender's signature.
Van den Berg has made it no secret his desire is to play regular first-team football and Arne Slot presented him the opportunity to prove himself over the summer, in which the 22 year-old capatalized. As a result this has only helped escalate attraction from elsewhere for the youngster's services.
The Dutchman moved to Merseyside in 2019 after Liverpool agreed a £4.4 million deal with Eredevise side PEC Zwolle. Van den Berg went on to only make four senior appearences under Jurgen Klopp while spending time away on loan at Preston North End, Schalke and Mainz.
During his last loan Van den Berg earned rave reviews including being described as 'incredibly talented.'
SEPP VAN DEN BERG HAS ATTRACTED PREMIER LEAGUE AND BUNDESLIGA INTEREST
The Athletic have today reported that Premier league side Brentford are seriously considering meeting Liverpool's valuation to bring Van den Berg in on a permanent deal. The Bees are also believed to have interest in other defenders however, with the likes of Burnley's Dara O'Shea and Sheffield United's Anel Ahmedhodzic being admired by Thomas Frank's side.
Brentford are known to be long term admirers of the centre-half and with Fabio Carvalho being the latest to transfer between the two clubs, The Bees' solid relations with Liverpool could see Van den Berg follow suit very soon.
The West London side face competition from the Germany though, with Bundesliga Champions Bayer Leverkusen's interest in the Dutchman is now described as 'concrete' according to Sky Germany.
Both Leverkusen and Brentford are in contract with Liverpool to try and find an agreement to complete the permanent signing of 22 year-old.
