"I'm lost for words" - Trent Alexander-Arnold on Konate's CL final performance

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was very impressed with how Ibrahima Konate played against Real Madrid in the Champions League final last Saturday night.

The centre-back was named in Jurgen Klopp's starting lineup and he did not let the German down.

Konate registered a WhoScored player rating of 7.27 for his 90-minute performance at the Stade de France.

With that being the case, Alexander-Arnold was full of praise for the Frenchman during yesterday's trophy parade.

“Outstanding, the performance he put in yesterday (during the Champions League final), I’m lost for words to be honest,” he told LFCTV GO.

“I honestly can’t say anything, words wouldn’t do justice to the way I felt about the performance yesterday. I don’t know why, but I felt proud of him, it’s the Champions League final!”

Alexander-Arnold added: “We’ve created a bond, we get along so well, he’s an amazing lad and an unbelievable player, the potential he has is ridiculous.

“So I’m very proud of him, I think the sky is the limit, there’s no ceiling on his potential. Hopefully we’ll win a lot of trophy’s together me and him.”

Unfortunately, Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 1-0.

Anfield Watch Verdict

As we have already pointed out, Konate was brilliant for Liverpool last Saturday night. The exciting thing about the centre-back is that he is only 23 years of age.

Therefore, it would be fair to state that Konate is far from the finished article. The Frenchman has had a reasonable debut season at Anfield.

Konate won the League Cup and FA Cup. Hopefully Konate can add a handful of winners medals to his collection by the time his career at Liverpool comes to an end.

The defender's contract expires in the summer of 2026.
