Former Red Stan Collymore has recently given his verdict on Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita.
The 50-year-old said that he is losing patience with the Guinea international. Keita has struggled with injuries and form since signing with the Reds from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee of €60 million back in the summer of 2018.
The 26-year-old has only scored 10 goals and registered five assists in 89 appearances for Liverpool.
Collymore further added that he could potentially see Reds boss Jurgen Klopp selling Keita in the near future. Keita's contract expires in the summer of 2023.
“For me now, I’m getting to the end of my tether with him,” Collymore told Empire of the Kop.
“I wonder at the end of the season whether Jurgen Klopp would look to get rid and whether he’d look to upgrade. There’s a possibility there.
“There might be other players like Harvey [Elliott] or Curtis Jones that may naturally develop into first-team players with another year behind them.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
There is no denying that Keita is a talented footballer. Footage of the midfielder highlights that he possesses plenty of talent.
With that being the case, we would like to see Klopp persist with Keita. The Guinea international simply needs a bit of luck with his body.
But, with Keita's contract coming to an end in a year and a half, he needs to prove to his worth soon.
