Pundit Rio Ferdinand recently asked former Manchester City centre-back Vincent Kompany to name the best player that he came up against in the Premier League.
The 35-year-old said former Red Luis Suarez was the best player that he faced in England. Kompany played against the striker between 2011-14.
As quoted by Anfield Edition's Twitter account, Vincent told VIBE With Five the following: "I would say Luis Suarez. "He’s unconventional in everything he does, it’s a game within the game. He’ll fall on the floor and fake an injury, by the time you’re complaining to the ref, he’s running in behind."
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Liverpool signed Suarez from Ajax for a transfer fee of €26.50 million back in January 2011.
The forward was a superb player for the Reds. Suarez scored 82 goals and registered 47 assists in 133 appearances for Liverpool.
The Uruguayan also won the 2012 League Cup with the Reds. Back in the summer of 2014, Suarez departed Liverpool and joined Barcelona for a transfer fee of €81.72 million.
It was a shame that the forward did not remain at Anfield for a few more years. Suarez was an entertainer during his time at Liverpool. But, it wasn't meant to be.
Barcelona ended up selling Suarez to Atletico Madrid for a transfer fee of €7 million back in September 2020. The striker is still running around for the La Liga side.
