Pundit Gary Neville has praised Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez for his performance against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium yesterday.
The Uruguay international scored a goal and registered a WhoScored player rating of 7.08 for his 90-minute performance against the Gunners.
With that being the case, Neville praised Nunez post-game.
He told his podcast the following (5:30): “I thought he was really good. I thought even in the difficult parts of the game for Liverpool, he was their best player. His runs were good.”
Neville further added: “I thought there were really good signs from Nunez today. I thought he looked a real handful up there.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Liverpool signed Nunez from Benfica for a transfer fee of €75 million during the recent summer transfer window.
The forward has had an interesting start to his Anfield career. Nunez has scored three goals and registered one assist in nine appearances for Liverpool's first-team.
The 23-year-old was suspended for three Premier League fixtures after headbutting Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen back in August.
So, we have seen the good and bad of Nunez. But, we are confident that the Uruguay international will become a consistent performer for Liverpool.
As Neville pointed out, the man can clearly play. Some players just take more time to adapt to a new environment/league.
