Pundit Stuart Pearce has made a prediction in relation to Liverpool forward Luis Diaz.
The Reds signed the Colombia international from Porto for a transfer fee of £42.30 million back in January.
Diaz made an immediate impact at Anfield. The 25-year-old scored six goals and registered five assists in 27 appearances for Liverpool last season.
Diaz also averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.44 across 13 Premier League appearances.
Therefore, Pearce would not be surprised if the winger was named player of the year.
"I think Diaz could be player of the year. I was so impressed with Diaz last season, how he hit the ground running, his goals, his effort. He’s almost unshakable on the ball, I really like him," he told talkSPORT, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.
"Will Liverpool miss (Sadio) Mane, of course, but I think Diaz could be a slightly better player and a better goalscorer. I think he could be a special player this year. What a talent.
"If you asked me who I think will win the league this year, it's Liverpool. With City winning the league twice in a row, it takes away a couple of per cent. Liverpool will have that little bit more hunger in their bellies and their striker options are so outstanding."
We can confirm club doctor Jim Moxon will be leaving his role to take on fresh challenges.
The club thanks Jim for his hard work and expertise, he leaves with our sincere gratitude and full support.

Anfield Watch Verdict
There is no reason why Diaz can't challenge for all the major individual honours in the game. As we have pointed out, the forward is a very good player.
Also, Diaz is still very young. He has plenty of time left in his career to claim individual accolades.
Hopefully Diaz can have a big season and propel Liverpool towards some trophies. Only time will tell if that is to be the case.
