Back in July 2018, the Reds signed the Guinea international from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee of €60 million.
However, Keita has struggled since arriving at Anfield. The 27-year-old has only made 96 appearances for Liverpool's first-team in his four years at the club.
Keita has struggled with injuries, which is a key reason why he has not played much.
"Whether they give him a new contract, whether they let him run it down, which I think would be unlike them given the money they have paid... and the money they could potentially recoup."
Anfield Watch Verdict
Jones is spot on. Liverpool have a decision to make regarding Keita's future.
There is no denying that the Guinea international is a good footballer. Keita scored 17 goals and registered 15 assists in 71 appearances for RB Leipzig. But, it just hasn't happened for him at Anfield.
If Jurgen Klopp believes that the Reds can go into next season without the midfielder, then the club should look at selling him.
Keita possesses a current market value of €30 million, which highlights that Liverpool could sell him for a reasonable transfer fee.
As things stand, if the club don't move Keita on next season, he could leave the club on a free transfer come the summer of 2023.
We are intrigued to see where the midfielder's long-term future lies.
