Jurgen Klopp has given an update on Trent Alexander-Arnold's injury and he expects him to be back soon.

Speaking at his pre-Watford press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp has said that it will be tight for Trent to feature at the weekend, but he could be back against Benfica.

"Trent trained yesterday in parts and will be in full training today. We will see what we do with that," said Klopp.

"He wanted to go with England but he couldn't. He has been out for two weeks, thank god it wasn't longer. It is tight for tomorrow but it is possible.

"I will make the decision. I think he will be ready [for Benfica]."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Thankfully, Trent's injury is not as bad as first feared. Losing him during April would've been a disaster.

The Reds are set to play two Champions League quarter-finals, an FA Cup semi-final and important Premier League games against Everton, Manchester United and Manchester City.

With 17 assists this season, Trent is going to be a massive part of the team in the upcoming fixtures and him being fit enough to play three games a week is vital.

Even though he could be available for selection against Watford, most Liverpool fans are probably in agreement that they want the Scouser to be rested as the game against Roy Hodgson's side is probably the easiest fixture we have this month.

Joe Gomez is more than good enough to fill in for the 23-year-old, even if he doesn't offer the same attacking threat at Trent.

No doubt he will be a huge miss, but if we can get through the game and come out with all three points, then the title charge is well and truly on.
