"I talked to Liverpool" - Kylian Mbappe reveals Liverpool transfer plan

Kylian Mbappe has claimed that Liverpool were in the race for his signature along with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

The striker has revealed in an interview with Telegraph Sport that Liverpool spoke to him and his representatives before he made the decision to extend his stay with PSG.

“We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit,” Mbappe said.

“I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her!

“It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club.”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken very highly of Mbappe in the past, even going as far as to confirm Liverpool's interest in him.

When the German was recently asked about the club's interest in the Frenchman, he said, as quoted by the Metro, that his side can't be part of these types of negotiations due to the money that is involved.

"Of course we are interested in Kylian Mbappe, we are not blind," said Klopp. "We like him and if you don’t like him then you have to question yourself.

"But, no, we are not, we cannot be part of these battles. There must be other clubs involved and that is fine. He is a great player."

It's clear that Klopp and Mbappe admire each other a lot. Every time we have faced PSG you can see the pair speaking on the pitch after the game.

These type of encounters have had Liverpool fans on the 'Mbappe train' for quite some time now. However, with his new deal at PSG set to last until 2025, it looks like we can put a stop to these rumours until then.

If Klopp is still at the club and if Mbappe wants to lower his wages then who knows, maybe we could see the World Cup winner play for Liverpool one day.
