"I love you Reds” - Virgil van Dijk thanks Liverpool fans for their amazing support

Despite losing the Champions League final, Virgil van Dijk has thanked the Anfield faithful for their amazing support during "a great season".

Speaking after the parade on Instagram, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the centre-back thanked the fans for the reception they received in Liverpool.

"This is special. After such a big disappointment being received like this is a big lesson! The season was great and with all of you by our side we will fight for everything again next season. THANK YOU REDS," Van Dijk said.

“It’s been a rollercoaster season, we played all the games we could’ve played and everyone contributed. We will keep our heads up high and learn from everything we have been through as a team. It was only my comeback season and looking very much forward to next season!

“From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! Not only for yesterday but for the support the whole season, I love you Reds.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

What we witnessed on Sunday after the Champions League final defeat was so special. No other club in the world would get behind their players as our fans did.

Yes, it was heartbreaking to lose on Saturday, but you have to support your team through the highs and the lows.

Not that this season was a low, but it was a bit underwhelming considering what we could've achieved.

However, Sunday's parade must have been such a buzz for all of those players on the coach. I'm sure that they've never received that amount of support after such a disappointment the day before.

It should give them the extra push they need to go on next season and compete for all those trophies again.

Hopefully our next victory parade will be in the near future, maybe with a few more trophies.
