"I know our supporters" - Jurgen Klopp on welcoming the new signings

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has sent a message to the Anfield fathful ahead of tonight's first home game of the 2022-23 Premier League season.

The Reds will face Crystal Palace at 8:00pm BST. Before the campaign got underway on the 6th of August, the club signed Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay.

Klopp wants the Liverpool supporters to give the new players a warm welcome at Anfield.

"There are some new faces, of course, and they will all be seen. If not tonight then certainly as the season goes on," he told the club's official website, as quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter.

"The big positive is they are already settling into their new surroundings, whether that be the club, the city or the dressing room. Liverpool is a welcoming city so it makes sense that we are a welcoming club.

"I know our supporters will give their own special welcome whether the players have been here for a month or a decade. This kind of togetherness is as important now as it was when I first arrived and last season when we joined forces to campaign on all four fronts.

"Talent and hard work were at the heart of everything we did and everything we achieved, but I have been in this game long enough to know that unity is every bit as important. Being one club – supporters and team on the same page – gives all of us so much.

"I don’t know if it is possible but imagine what it would be like if we could build on this even more. It is a big ask but we may as well give it a try. This is just the second game.

"There is so much football to be played and so many things will happen between now and the end of the season that it makes no sense to make any predictions. But what I can promise is that we will carry on working as hard as ever to be as good as we possibly can be.

"Even this does not guarantee success but it does give us a chance of being successful. It hasn’t worked too badly up to now either so let’s carry on.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

The crowd will certainly get behind the new faces over the course of the season. If you apply yourself out on the pitch, the supporters will love you.

It would be brilliant to see Nunez score against Crystal Palace tonight. The forward cost Liverpool £85 million.

So, there is a bit of pressure on him to deliver. Therefore, scoring a goal at Anfield would certainly give Nunez a bit of confidence heading into the future.

Hopefully the Uruguay international can help Liverpool secure the three points against the Eagles.
