Highly-rated Liverpool youngster signs new long-term deal

Exciting Liverpool youngster James McConnell has signed a new long-term deal with the Reds.

The defensive midfielder featured regularly for Liverpool's first team in the summer during pre-season, putting in some strong showings before the season began.

The 19-year-old has racked up three senior competitive appearances so far, all of which have come this season.

Two of his substitute cameos came in the Europa League, while the other was a very brief outing against Brentford at Anfield in the Premier League.

However, he has frequently been involved with first-team training in recent weeks, as well as often being named on the bench amid Liverpool's injury crisis.

As a result, Liverpool have tied him down to a new long-term deal, approximately three years after signing his first professional contract with the club.

McConnell isn't the only high-potential youngster that has been given a new contract this season, with both Conor Bradley and Bobby Clark signing extensions.

Bradley has been particularly eye-catching for the Reds when called upon, battling back from an early season injury to become a useful member of Klopp's squad.

The Northern Irish full-back came off the bench in the FA Cup third round against Arsenal alongside Clark, while also delivering a stellar performance against Fulham in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg in Trent Alexander-Arnold's absence.
