"He's very good" - Thierry Henry on Sadio Mane

Pundit Thierry Henry has waxed lyrical about Liverpool forward Sadio Mane.

The Senegal international had a huge 2021-22 campaign. Mane won silverware with his club and country.

With that being the case, Henry has praised the 30-year-old's durability.

“What he is doing this season,” he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (28/05/22 at 7:30pm BST).

“Winning the Africa Cup of Nations, for the first time for Senegal.

“Then qualifying against Egypt (for the 2022 World Cup), which was difficult.

“I have been saying for a very long time that this player is special. From his Southampton days. When he was playing for Salzburg and Metz.

“He’s very good. His work rate. The way he galvanises the team. He is contagious.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with everything that Henry has said. Mane is a terrific footballer, but he is also very tough.

It can't have been easy for Mane to get himself up for every single match of the campaign. It must have been tiring, as he always had something to play for.

On another note, it has been reported that Mane will leave Liverpool this summer and join Bayern Munich.

We won't lie, we were gutted when we heard the aforementioned news.

Since joining the club from Southampton for a transfer fee of £37.08 million back in the summer of 2016, he has scored 120 goals and registered 48 assists in 269 appearances for the first-team.

The aforementioned figures highlight that Mane will not be an easy player to replace. However, we did say the same thing when Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez departed the Reds.

At the end of the day, no player is bigger than Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp and his team will move on swiftly if Mane does depart Anfield.

Until the club confirms that Mane is leaving, nothing is official.
