Pundit Martin O’Neill has said that Liverpool forward Sadio Mane is one of his favourite players to watch.

The Senegal international has been a sensational player for the Reds since joining the club from Southampton back in the summer of 2016.

Mane has scored 111 goals and registered 45 assists in 255 appearances for the Reds. The 29-year-old has also won the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title and League Cup with the club.

Mane's impact at Liverpool has not gone unnoticed by O'Neill.

The 70-year-old told Premier League’s Matchday Extra the following: “Liverpool overpower you, they have unbelievable players. Mane, I love him, he’s one of my favourite players.

"He’s fantastic and he plays every single week, every week. It’s great for the Premier League.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with O'Neill's take regarding Mane. The winger has been an exceptional player for Liverpool.

Without the Senegal international, the Reds would not be the team that they are today. There has been talk regarding Mane's future. However, hopefully he remains at Liverpool for a few more years.

We strongly believe that Mane, 29, still has plenty to give. He has found the back of the net 14 times in 37 matches this season.

Mane has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.20 across the 2021-22 campaign.

The aforementioned figures highlight that he is still contributing. It was not that long ago that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp claimed that Mane was tough for defenders to come up against.

"He is really difficult to defend against," the 54-year-old said back in March, as quoted by TeamTalk.

Klopp's comments further highlight that Mane is far from finished as a footballer.

The winger's contract expires in the summer of 2023. But, who knows what the future holds for Mane.
