"He’s a massive guy" - Harvey Elliott on the size of a Liverpool defender

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has recently been talking about Virgil van Dijk's height.

The centre-back has arguably been Jurgen Klopp's best ever signing. Liverpool bought Van Dijk from Southampton for a transfer fee of €84.65 million back in January 2018.

The Dutchman has helped the Reds win the two biggest trophies in club football - the 2019 UEFA Champions and the 2020 Premier League title.

Van Dijk was named the runner-up for the 2019 Ballon d'Or, which provides an insight into how well he has performed for Liverpool at certain times.

The defender clearly possesses a lot of talent. But, Van Dijk is also very tall (1.93m). Therefore, he certainly has an advantage when it comes to aerial duels.

However, Elliott believes that Van Dijk is much taller in person.

The host from UMM asked (03:33): “Virgil van Dijk is even bigger in real life?”

Elliott replied: “Yeah, but I think that’s because I’m small, I’m five foot six, so compared to him, he towers over me, when I go to hug him, he’s looking right over me like that, so yeah, he’s a massive guy."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Van Dijk is an imposing figure, and Elliott's comments back up that particular argument.

On another note, we look forward to watching the centre-back in the years to come. He is a class act after all.

Van Dijk is contracted until June 2025. With that being the case, it would be fair to assume that the Dutchman will not be leaving Anfield anytime soon.

Also, Van Dijk wants to be remembered as a Liverpool legend.

In an interview with Sport back in April 2020, he said: "How would I like to be remembered? Like a Liverpool legend.

"I want to achieve incredible things here.
