Former Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton has recently praised Liverpool forward Diogo Jota.
The Reds signed the Portugal international from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a transfer fee of €44.70 million back in the summer of 2020.
Hutton believes that Jota has improved since signing for Liverpool. The 37-year-old further added that the striker has taken a bit of pressure off the other forwards at the club.
Hutton told Football Insider the following: “He’s a brilliant footballer. Obviously, I played against him at Wolves and you could see it.
"But he’s actually taken his game to the next level moving to Liverpool. There were probably a couple of eyebrows raised when he did move but he’s taken on the challenge.
“Klopp’s made him a better player and he’s lightened the load for [Mohamed] Salah, [Sadio] Mane, [Roberto] Firmino. He’s taken a little bit of pressure off them with his contribution.
“He’s been in excellent form, as have Liverpool in general.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
We agree with Hutton's comment regarding Jota taking some pressure off the other Liverpool forwards. The reality is, the Portugal international has been immense for the Reds.
Jota has scored 22 goals and registered three assists in 47 appearances for the club's first-team.
The exciting thing is that the striker still has plenty of room left for improvement. Jota is only 24 years of age after all.
Therefore, we look forward to watching Liverpool's No.20 in the years to come.
Hopefully Jota spends the majority of his career at Anfield. But, only time will tell if that is to be the case.
