"He is struggling and he is quite isolated": Pundit on Gini Wijnaldum

Pundit Emmanuel Petit has recently been talking about Paris Saint-Germain midfielder and former Red Gini Wijnaldum.

The Dutchman departed Liverpool and joined the Ligue 1 club on a free transfer last summer. However, Wijnaldum has struggled since signing for PSG.

The midfielder has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.48 in France's top division of football this season.

Petit believes that Wijnaldum is "quite isolated" in the PSG dressing room.

The ex-Arsenal midfielder is under the impression that the 31-year-old is missing the connection that he had with his Liverpool teammates.

As quoted by Anfield Edition's Twitter account, Petit told Bookmakers.co.uk the following: “He doesn't have the relationship with his team-mates [at PSG] that he had when he was with Liverpool.

"He is struggling and he is quite isolated in the PSG dressing room."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Wijnaldum was a top player for Liverpool between 2016-21. The midfielder scored 22 goals and registered 15 assists in 237 appearances.

Wijnaldum also won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League title with the Reds.

Therefore, we were disappointed when the Dutchman left Anfield. We would not be surprised if Wijnaldum was missing his former Liverpool teammates.

The 31-year-old was a respected person and player at Anfield. Hopefully Wijnaldum can get his career back on track.
