'He didn't look in awe of anything' - Ian Wright blown away by Liverpool youngster in Carabao Cup final

Former Arsenal striker turned pundit Ian Wright was left stunned by the impressive display of Liverpool youngster Jayden Danns in Sunday's Carabao Cup final victory against Chelsea.

The 18-year-old, who is the son of former Premier League midfielder Neil Danns, was making only his second ever senior appearance for the Reds after debuting against Luton Town last Wednesday.

The striker was brought on by Klopp in the dying minutes of normal time and quickly found himself involved at Wembley, looking immediately comfortable on the big stage.

Jayden Danns twice tested Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, the first a curled effort that was comfortably saved by the Serb, and the second a fantastic header that was tipped over the crossbar.

The youngster played with no fear at Wembley, as did fellow academy stars James McConnell and Bobby Clark when they came on, and he made a particularly strong impression on Ian Wright.

Speaking after the game on the Wrighty's House podcast, the former Arsenal forward stated: "You look at the young players that came on, even Danns, I’ve not seen too much of him. Heard his name before.

"But he came on in that final like an experienced pro the way he played, the way he held the ball, he didn’t look like he was in awe of anything.

"He was just in and ready to go. And that is something to do with the aura of Liverpool and what they expect from a player that can come on and ‘this is fine, this is what we’re about’. I envy them for that."

Danns also impressed during his small cameo against Luton in the Premier League, helping set up Liverpool's fourth goal at Anfield.

The lanky teenager has looked sharp in possession during his limited first team game time, while also showcasing his eye-catching pace in his two appearances so far.

Having been prolific for Liverpool's youth teams, Danns is certainly a player that the Reds will be eager to offer as much first team exposure as possible, with the starlet likely to get some more minutes under his belt against Southampton in the FA Cup on Wednesday night.
