Harvey Elliott's popularity among many Liverpool supporters has increased following the club's pre-season tour in the United States.

The 21-year-old started all three friendlies against Real Betis, Arsenal (where he claimed two assists for Mohamed Salah and Fabio Carvalho) and Manchester United, catching the eye in his favoured role behind the central striker.

In many ways, Elliott has picked up from where he left off towards the back end of last season where he started the final four games, registering an assist in three of them as well as netting a wondergoal in front of the Kop as the Reds beat Tottenham Hotspur 4-2.

Such was the attacking midfielder's impressive form that he was tipped to become a key player under new head coach Arne Slot by former midfielder Patrik Berger and it would appear some supporters are in agreement.

Reacting on social media, there has been an overwhelming show of support for Elliott from fans who believe the 2024/25 campaign is shaping up to be a breakthrough one for the the £4.3m signing from Fulham.

For example, on X (formerly Twitter), @Baileylfc19 predicted: "Harvey Elliott young player of the season for the premier league. Invest early", @MRumble_LFC said: "HUGE season ahead for Harvey Elliott, special talent. Game IQ is years beyond his age" and @IND4444LFC cheekily compared the Liverpool youngster to Barcelona and Spain legend Andres Iniesta.

Meanwhile, @MrJohnnyRainman said: "Harvey Elliott looks ready to elevate his game to another level", @asim_lfc said: "Harvey Elliott is our Bernardo Silva" and @donjoughnut said: "Harvey Elliott might just be about to have a season that takes him up a few levels."

Slot on Elliott

Clearly enjoying life under Arne Slot, Elliott came in for praise from the new Liverpool head coach following the 2-1 win over Arsenal.

"They were two great assists but what I believe is that the team created this for him as well," Slot said, per the Athletic.

"Playing out from the back, getting him in the right positions. Then it was up to Harvey to bring the most out of those situations and he did that today with two assists.

"If I am a bit hard on him, I think there were maybe two other situations where he could have done better but he showed his quality."
