The season has kicked off in fantastic fashion with Liverpool achieving maximum points from their opening three games, and aside from Mohamed Salah's contract situation, the fans have had little to worry about.

Players have stepped up to the task under new manager Arne Slot and any media pundits who tipped the Reds for a drop-off at the start of the season are maybe beginning to regret their decision.

However, an announcement from the England camp, about the condition of one Liverpool star, has given supporters a reason to be concerned.

Injury scare for Elliott

So far this season, Harvey Elliott has had limited opportunities to show his portfolio of skills under Slot. Having started on the bench for all three Premier League games, and only appearing as a substitute in one against Brentford, the talented forward’s game time has been scarce.

However, he is an incredible young asset for Liverpool and towards the end of last season, he demonstrated serious promise, including a wonderful performance against Tottenham at Anfield. Fans will be hoping to see him sparkle on the pitch again soon.

Elliott was selected in England Under-21s' squad for their upcoming European qualifiers against Northern Ireland and Ukraine. But the FA have since announced that the Liverpool forward, along with Ipswich Town attacker Omari Hutchinson, Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene and Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Sam Tickle, would be returning to their respective clubs for ‘further medical assessment’.

This news will worry Liverpool fans as Elliott is an integral member of the squad and his presence is strongly felt in the camp.

Supporters can speculate that he has a slight niggle which will keep him out for a couple of weeks, or he simply felt something and asked to head back to Merseyside.

Either way, we can be assured that Harvey will do everything he can to recover quickly and be available to play club football again.

Despite his lack of minutes this season, Elliott's many admirers will hope he can get back to the blistering form he showed at the back end of last season.
