Fulham starlet Fabio Carvalho talks about his future amid Liverpool interest
Fabio Carvalho has reportedly signed a contract with Liverpool and in a recent interview, he spoke about his future with Fulham.
Speaking after Fulham got promoted to the Premier League last night, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Carvalho said that his focus is still on playing for the London based club.
“I've tried not to let it affect me but I'm only human. I'm obviously aware of those stories, even if it's only subconsciously. I think it has affected me a bit," said Carvalho.
"But what I can say is that I'm determined to keep working hard for Fulham. Whenever I step out onto the pitch wearing a Fulham shirt, I will give it my all. As far as the future goes, whatever happens, happens. My focus is on the here and now.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Despite saying this, Carvalho already revealed his future club after he liked Fabrizio Romano's post confirming that his representatives and Fulham had agreed on a fee for his transfer this summer.
Fabio is still a Fulham player and it's good that he isn't publicly acknowledging the reports as that would be kind of disrespectful to his current club.
Luckily for Liverpool fans though, this deal is basically done. Fabrizio Romano was one of the first people to report that the clubs had agreed on a package for the 19-year-old's transfer.
Carvalho will join in the summer and the final fee will be £5m upfront, plus £2.7m in potential add ons. Romano also said that the contract Carvalho will sign with Liverpool will be until 2027. Finally, Fulham will also have a 20% sell-on clause included in the deal.
Romano isn't the only journalist claiming this either. Other reliable Liverpool reporters like Paul Joyce, James Pearce and others all confirmed the same shortly after Fabrizio broke the news.
This is going to be a great deal for Liverpool. Carvalho will join other highly-rated youngsters at the club and it's expected he'll join up with the first-team squad straight away. Another star in the making for Jurgen Klopp's side!
