Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt has revealed his conversation with Liverpool regarding the transfer of Andre Trindade.

22-year-old Andre was a target for Liverpool over the summer, as the Reds sought more midfield reinforcements following the departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

Anfield Watch reported that Fluminense were prepared to listen to offers for their highly rated number seven, but under the condition that a transfer would not take place until the January window, with the Brazilian club unwilling to let a key player during their season.

Fluminense are still in this year's Copa Libertadores – South America's Champions League equivalent, which runs from February to November – and have high hopes of securing their first-ever title in the competition.

As a result, Liverpool's interest in a summer transfer was rejected.

Speaking to ESPN, via Yahoo!, Bittencourt confirmed a call with Liverpool 'Executive Director' – likely CEO Billy Hogan – who made an enquiry for Andre, while reiterating that a move could be sanctioned in the winter.

He is quoted as saying: "The Executive Director of Liverpool contacted me directly. And I replied to him: My friend, I don't sell a player now and I don't deliver now. If you want to buy now to take in January, we can start talking, or if you want to wait until December and we talk about December."

Anfield Watch understands that Liverpool are unlikely to rekindle their interest in Andre in January, despite his apparent availability.

Meanwhile, the likes of Fulham and West Ham have both been linked with the one-cap Brazil.
