Erik Ten Hag has given a final injury update ahead of Liverpool vs Manchester United. It may be better than first thought.

Erik Ten Hag handed out a final Manchester United injury update on Friday as his team prepares to take on Liverpool this weekend. United are battling several problems to key players - but a couple may return for this one.

"Luke Shaw trained this morning, so we think he's available for Sunday," he told a press conference. "Marcus Rashford [is available]."

However, the Rashford situation may not be that clear-cut. Per the Daily Mail, the forward has been battling the Norovirus this week - and is cutting is close.

Rashford did train on Friday but the Mail claim United needed to see exactly how he was on Saturday (and presumably  Sunday) before knowing for sure. Ten Hag may have jumped the gun a little there - Rashford should be available but it's not guaranteed.

Victor Lindelof is another who should return for United after being out recently. That's the extent of the returns, though - the list of unavailable is far longer.

Harry Maguire is definitely out, says Ten Hag, while Anthony Martial, Mason Mount, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia are also sidelined. Bruno Fernandes isn't injury but did pick up a suspension with his fifth yellow card of the season last weekend.

All in all, Ten Hag won't find it easy getting a decent team together. The 'crisis' isn't as bad as first feared, given Shaw and Rashford should be there, but that's still a lot of first-team talent missing.

Liverpool, then, are overwhelming favourites for this one. They don't have anything like the same injury problems, are playing far better football week-to-week, and won 7-0 in this fixture last season.

Jurgen Klopp will need to manage the expectations here, then. Liverpool should be confident but they've still got to get the job done.
