"Feel the best is Bayern" - Senegal's coach on Sadio Mane joining Bayern Munich

Senegal's coach, Aliou Cisse, has said that Bayern Munich is the best club for Sadio Mane to join amid rumours of him leaving Liverpool.

Speaking to Mail Sport, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the 46-year-old said that Mane would suit playing in the Bundesliga due to previously playing in Austria.

“He is not going into unknown territory. For me, the club where he will feel the best is Bayern," said Cisse.

“Bayern is intensity, pressure football with a German coach. Sadio played in Salzburg in Austria which is a border country.

“I tell my boys to try to settle the contract problems so that when their respective championships resume, they will have already found a base. I heard about Sadio at Bayern.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Ever since Jurgen Klopp jokingly called the Africa Cup of Nations a 'small tournament', Cisse has had it out for Liverpool. This seems to be another unnecessary jab at the club from him.

Yesterday, Fabrizio Romano, as cited by AW on Twitter, said that Bayern Munich are getting closer to securing a deal for Mane.

Romano further added that a reasonable bid is ready to be submitted by Bayern to reach a full agreement with Liverpool.

After Mane reportedly asked the Reds for £400k per week, I think this is the right move by the club. He is a Liverpool legend but at the end of the day, he's 29 years old and his goal-scoring form has dropped off significantly in recent seasons.

With Darwin Nunez also on the brink of joining Liverpool for a reported fee of €100 million, in the long-term, he's probably going to be a significant upgrade on the Senegalese forward.

We've needed a goalscoring centre-forward since Jurgen Klopp joined Liverpool and if it means Mane leaving to raise funds to secure that type of player, then so be it.
