Liverpool coach Arne Slot gives MASSIVE Federico Chiesa hint

Federico Chiesa’s full debut has been anticipated for nearly a month now.

Liverpool signed the Italian attacker on August 29 and since then fans have been clamouring to get a proper look at their newest star. Rotations are expected with a League Cup tie against West Ham tomorrow and Liverpool in the middle of a seven-games-in-three-weeks spell.

In his pre-match press conference, new Reds boss Arne Slot gave Koppites a little bit of hope.

“I don’t think he’s able to play 90 minutes.” Slot decreed, not wishing to hide anything or raise expectations ahead of the visit by the Hammers. “He only played 25 [minutes] now as a maximum in the last three, four, five months. I don’t think he played any friendlies at Juve as well.

“But he’s able to start in our opinion and if he will, yeah let’s see.” Slot continued, “There are many options we have. But he’s able to start in our opinion. But I don’t think he’s able to play 90 at the level we’re playing tomorrow against a strong West Ham team.”

Liverpool fans excited for Chiesa

The confidence of this declaration has buoyed fans who have been waiting to see just what Chiesa is all about. If he is unable to play a full 90, as Slot said, then the anticipation is that Chiesa will start the game and demonstrate what he can do in a live, influential situation. His Anfield debut at the weekend - a 19-minute cameo already 3-0 up on Bournemouth - did little to satiate the appetite for the new signing.

Chiesa’s 11 goal involvements in 33 Serie A games for Juventus last season were his highest tally post-ACL injury he suffered in January 2022. The season before this, Chiesa notched 16 goal involvements in just 30 games in his first season in Turin.

Playing on the same side as Mo Salah, the expectations for Chiesa to get starts are currently few and far between. Yet, if he can prove he is a true difference maker, Arne Slot may be forced to integrate the attacker by hook or by crook.
