Fabrizio Romano has said that Liverpool's priority is to get Mohamed Salah a new contract and to stop other clubs swooping in and getting him in.
The Egyptian forward has just over one year left on his current deal at the club, with June 2023 the current expiry date on his terms with the Reds.
Indeed, the talk and discussion around his deal has been widely reported and ongoing for a few months now, with fans obviously hoping something can be sorted sooner rather than later.
Certainly, there's a good chance that a contract will be agreed but until then there will be the worry that clubs are starting to prepare offers for him to take him away from Merseyside.
Romano, though, says that the Salah deal is priority number 1 for Liverpool:
"Liverpool's priority right now is absolutely Mo Salah's new contract. Liverpool have long been in negotiations with Salah and his agent but the hope is to be able to find a definitive agreement by the summer to avoid attempts by other top clubs."

Anfield Watch Verdict
Salah is a world class footballer and is the sort of player that Liverpool need to be keeping if they are to remain serious players at the top table of European football.
It's clear he wants a pay-rise and we'll just have to see if the Reds are willing to meet the demands that he has, or whether more negotiations need to take place.
Clearly, though, there is at least full intention from both sides to get an agreement done if it is right, and hopefully an announcement isn't far off.
