Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool won't be signing Bundesliga player in January
Liverpool won't make a move for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria this month, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Reds have been linked with a January move for the 25-year-old. However, Romano has made it clear on Twitter that Liverpool won't be signing Zakaria anytime soon.
The journalist further added that Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United and Juventus are interested in the midfielder.
Zakaria's contract expires at the end of the season, which means that he could be available on a free transfer next summer.
Anfield Watch Verdict
Zakaria is a fine talent. The midfielder has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.80 in the Bundesliga this season.
Zakaria is also a reasonably experienced player. The Switzerland international has made 146 appearances for Borussia Monchengladbach's first-team.
The aforementioned figures highlight that Zakaria would add quality and depth to Liverpool's midfield. Therefore, we are disappointed to hear that the Reds won't be making a move for the 25-year-old anytime soon.
In saying that, Liverpool do possess plenty of options in midfield (Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, James Milner, Curtis Jones and Naby Keita).
The Reds will be able to cope without Zakaria. But, if the midfielder is available on a free transfer next summer, Liverpool should make a move for him.
