Liverpool may opt against letting any players leave the club this January transfer window with AFCON and last year's injury woes still in mind, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The winter market is open and, though the Reds do not typically add in this window, we have seen loan exits sanctioned a bit more often in the recent past.
Could we see that again this month? Anfield Watch spoke to Fabrizio Romano to get the latest...
"Divock Origi as always and then Nat Phillips but with the Africa Cup in mind it is not easy for Liverpool to just lose these kinds of players," Romano said. "So I'm not sure they will allow players to leave early at least, and maybe only at the end of the window if at all.
"So it's not something already planned. As well as having players leave for the Africa Cup, injuries were a problem for Liverpool last season. And this is why I don't see Liverpool letting too many players go in January.
"They know that everything can happen in football - injuries could be a problem at some point of the season. And so I think at the most one player will leave Liverpool in January if that."
