Some early Liverpool team news show Virgil van Dijk is one of three players left out of the Reds' squad to face Toulouse.
Liverpool have announced their squad to travel to Toulouse for tomorrow's Europa League fixture, giving us some early team news. The big name missing is Virgil van Dijk.
The Dutchman did train on Wednesday but isn't travelling - the exact reason why is unclear. He's not the only absentee, either.
Curtis Jones appears not to have recovered from the problem that kept him out of Liverpool's 1-1 draw against Luton Town at the weekend. He's remaining on Merseyside, along with Ryan Gravenberch.
Gravenberch, unlike Van Dijk, missed training on Wednesday so this one isn't a massive surprise. But his absence will create a problem for Jurgen Klopp in France.
The Dutch midfielder was fantastic against them at Anfield two weeks ago. Many came away feeling he was the best player on the pitch, in fact, but there will be no repeat performance in the return fixture.
Both Jones and Gravenberch out will leave the Reds short in midfield. Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott and Dominik Szoboszlai will all travel and two of them will likely play the full 90, it seems.
Thiago and Bajcetic are yet to feature at all this season, in fact. Robertson did before shoulder surgery ruled him out for a few months. He should return at some point in the New Year.
Thursday, though, does see three new absences but we're hoping all three are more precautionary than anything. Liverpool should qualify from the group at this point and prioritising the Premier League is absolutely the right move, particularly with Van Dijk.
