Dominik Szoboszlai makes title race claim after 'euphoria' of Fulham win

Dominik Szoboszlai has hailed Liverpool's spirit as they came back to beat Fulham in dramatic circumstances on Sunday.

The Reds trailed Marco Silva's side 3-2 going into the final minutes, before a quick-fire double from Wataru Endo and Trent Alexander-Arnold turned the game on its head and sent the Anfield crowd wild.

After Manchester City dropped points in their 3-3 draw at home to Tottenham, the victory meant Liverpool jumped up to second in the Premier League table.

Speaking after the game, midfielder Szoboszlai – who watched the comeback from the bench after being substituted midway through the second half – praised his teammates ability to dig out an important result, while also outlining the need to keep securing wins in order to stay in the title race.

“Not every team is able to get up from the floor like that in ten minutes,” Szoboszlai told Hungarian outlet Sportal.

“It would be difficult to describe how much euphoria we experienced in the last quarter of an hour, and we took an important step towards achieving our goals.

“If we win all our [upcoming] games, we will be in the race. But the fact is, Arsenal and Manchester United are also in December’s schedule, so we have a really important time ahead of us.”

With 31 points, Liverpool sit just two points behind league leaders Arsenal after 14 games.

Next up, Szoboszlai and co face two away trips – first to 20th-placed Sheffield United on Wednesday, before taking on Crystal Palace this Saturday.

After that, the Reds see out 2023 with three more Premier League fixtures: Manchester United (17 Dec) and Arsenal (23 Dec) at home, as well Burnley (26 Dec) away.
