"Could slot into that midfield" - Pundit urges Liverpool to sign Chelsea man

Dean Saunders has urged Liverpool to sign Chelsea's N'Golo Kante.

The Frenchman is a very good player. Kante has the ability to run a football match from the middle of the park.

The 31-year-old is also coming off a solid 2021-22 campaign. Kante averaged a WhoScored player rating of 6.99 across the season.

With that being the case, Saunders believes that Liverpool should consider signing the midfielder.

“I was looking at players in our (Premier) league who could make them (Liverpool) better,” he told talkSPORT, as quoted by HITC.

“I think Kante would make them better. I think Kante could slot into that midfield.

"They are a workman-like midfield. Fabinho, (Jordan) Henderson and Thiago (Alcantara), so I think somebody like Kante.”

Kante is out of contract at the end of next season. He possesses a current market value of £45 million.

However, it is important to note that Liverpool have not genuinely been linked with a move for Kante.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Kante would certainly be a fine addition to Jurgen Klopp's squad. As we have pointed out, the Frenchman is a very good player. But, the Reds do possess an ageing midfield.

Fabinho, Henderson and Thiago are all at the backend of their careers. Therefore, we don't want to see the club make a move for Kante.

The Reds should be looking to sign a midfielder who could represent the club for 10 or so years.

It will be interesting to see who Klopp brings in this summer. The German has a very good track record when it comes to transfers.

So, we are confident that Liverpool will be a stronger unit heading into the 2022-23 campaign. We can't wait for next season to come around.
