"Completely normal situation" - Jurgen Klopp on Harvey Elliott's lack of game time

Harvey Elliott is one of the brightest talents at Liverpool but his lack of game time in recent weeks has been concerning, forcing Jurgen Klopp to address the situation.

When Elliott broke into the first team at the beginning of the season a lot of people thought this would be his breakthrough in the Premier League.

Unfortunately, a horrible injury against Leeds United four games into the 2021/22 season meant that he missed the first half of the campaign.

However, despite returning from his injury in February, Elliott has only started one game, against Inter Milan in the Champions League.

The lack of game time has got fans talking and people think that it may be a non-football related issue as to why he is not getting as many minutes.

Speaking at his pre-Nottingham Forest press conference, as cited by Liverpool Echo, the Liverpool manager spoke about Elliott's lack of game time in recent weeks.

"We're not managing him (Elliott) really to be honest. It's the competition for places and stuff like this," said Klopp.

"He was really long out, came back and immediately looked, 'Wow, he's back!' But then everything settles slightly and that's how it is.

"A completely normal situation, it's all fine. He's training well, it's all fine."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Elliott's potential is endless, if he puts in the work and listens to Klopp then he could become a superstar for Liverpool.

However, as it is with young players nowadays, social media is an issue and at the young age of 18-years-old, he has already been caught up in a few controversies.

Hopefully, we can see Elliott more in upcoming games as when he plays for Liverpool he is so entertaining to watch and if he sets his heart to it he could be a staple in the Reds' midfield for years to come.
