Clubs are reportedly circling around Kostas Tsimikas

Greek reporter Giannis Chorianopoulos has told LFC Transfer Room that clubs are interested in signing Liverpool's second-choice left-back Kostas Tsimikas.

However, Chorianopoulos has made it clear that the 25-year-old is happy at Anfield and will not be leaving the club.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp also rates Tsimikas quite highly, according to Chorianopoulos.

Anfield Watch Verdict

We are glad to hear that Tsimikas is unlikely to depart Liverpool, as he is a good player. The club signed the left-back from Olympiacos for a transfer fee of โ‚ฌ13 million back in the summer of 2020.

But, Tsimikas had an interrupted first season at the club. The Greece international's fitness meant that he only made seven appearances for Liverpool's first-team during the 2020-21 campaign.

However, Tsimikas has had a much better 2021-22 season thus far.

When the left-back has been given an opportunity ahead of Andy Robertson, he's been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.07 across all competitionsย  (20 appearances).

With that being the case, Klopp has been very complimentary towards Tsimikas in recent times.

"I'm really happy about the development of Kostas, really happy," the German manager said late last year.

Klopp added: "I'm really happy that Kostas shows up like he shows up. He's an outstanding player. Robbo needed half a year (to settle), Kostas needed around about a year. That's how it is but now we see how good he really is and that's really good news for us.

"Thank god he is good as well, imagine that, we'd have a proper problem there. It's much better than it was before when we had no real solution and Milly (James Milner) had to play there (left-back), which he did exceptionally well.โ€

As Klopp said, Tsimikas adds great quality and depth to the club's defence. We look forward to watching him heading into the future.
